Gehl Lays Off 48 in Yankton
West Bend, Wis.-based Gehl Co., last week announced the layoffs of 48 additional employees at its Yankton, S.D., plant, which produces telescopic handlers, wheel loaders and asphalt pavers. The company laid off 27 employees there in December.
In a statement, the company said it is reducing its workforce by 8 percent, because of the softening economy and the downturn in construction equipment sales.
