The Charles Machine Works, manufacturer of Ditch Witch underground construction equipment, has joined forces with other American manufacturers to support “I Make America,” a grassroots campaign to promote the growth of American manufacturing jobs. The company helped create a video that documents CMW’s contributions to the manufacturing industry and the American way of life.
The video, entitled “A Family Tradition,” features company founder Ed Malzahn, his granddaughter and current CEO Tiffany Sewell-Howard, and company employees describing the importance of the Ditch Witch organization to the town of Perry, Okla., and to the underground construction industry. The purpose of the videos posted on the I Make America website, is to present real-life stories of American workers in communities large and small, and to show how they help “make America.”

The “I Make America” program was launched by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers in September 2010 “to promote manufacturing jobs through infrastructure investment and export agreements as proven ways to create and sustain jobs for American workers.”
In its first year, “I Make America” registered more than 13,000 people as official supporters, and more than 850 AEM-member companies and other industry organizations.
