Cummins Receives ‘Best Corporate Citizens’ Honor for Eighth Straight Year

Columbus, Ind.-based Cummins Inc. last week was named as one of the 100 best corporate citizens in the United States by CRO magazine, the eighth straight year the company has received this recognition.

Cummins is one of only 11 companies to have made the list every year since its inception. The “100 Best Corporate Citizens” list identifies companies that excel at serving a variety of stakeholders well. The list is drawn from more than 1,100 of the largest U.S. publicly traded companies.

“We are honored to receive this recognition and to be mentioned alongside some of the premiere names in corporate America,” said Tim Solso, Cummins chairman and CEO. “The last three years have been the most profitable in Cummins’ history, but we’re especially proud of the fact that we have been able to produce those results while remaining true to our core values of ethical business behavior and corporate social responsibility.”

Cummins was No. 35 on the 2007 list, up from No. 61 in 2006. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters was No. 1 on the list for the second straight year.

“The ‘100 Best’ distinguish themselves from their peers at other large public companies by embracing higher standards — combining strong financial performance with responsible practices on environmental and social issues,” said Michael Connor, publisher and editor of CRO magazine.

The 100 best corporate citizens list was developed by Business Ethics magazine, which was incorporated last year into The CRO, a premier membership organization for corporate responsibility officers. In addition to its flagship publication, CRO magazine, The CRO offers members a variety of multimedia content including annual conferences, webinars, e-newsletters and original online material.

Cummins Inc. is a corporation of complementary business units that design, manufacture, distribute and service engines and related technologies.
