Oil Purification Systems, the a provider of fluid cleaning technology, last week announced that The National Association of Environmental Professionals has selected the OPS-1 on-board oil refining system as the 2009 Best Available Environmental Technology. NAEP selected the OPS-1 system based on its ability to help fleet owners dramatically reduce oil consumption, cut oil maintenance costs by as much as 80 percent, and extend equipment life while also minimizing the negative effects to the environment.

NAEP recognized OPS’ contribution in the effort to decrease America’s dependence on oil. Customers implementing OPS’ fluid cleaning technology run more than 120,000 miles between oil changes and save thousands of dollars a year in oil maintenance costs. Broad adoption of the OPS technology could decrease national oil consumption by close to 2 billion barrels per year, while global adoption could cut consumption by many times that amount.
