Speedy Hire Invests in Environmentally Efficient Lighting Systems

Speedy Services has invested £2.5 million (about U.S. $3.9 million) in environmentally efficient lighting, the company said. Speedy, the largest equipment rental company in the United Kingdom, is currently the sole U.K. supplier of Towerlight’s VB9 Eco Towers, which, the company said, can save the average contractor up to £300 per month. The nine-meter tall lighting units are designed to lower carbon output by minimizing fuel usage, during operation and through reducing transportation requirements.

The VB9 uses permanent magnet alternator technology, typically found on hybrid cars, combined with a traditional generator to reduce the power required to run its lights. The units include a tower routable by hand at 340 degrees, able to withstand windspeeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour.

“As the dark nights draw in, reliable high-quality lighting systems are something that no site can do without and offering our customers the most innovative and environmentally efficient lighting products is a key focus area for Speedy,” said Andy Connor, supply chain director at Speedy.

Speedy Hire is based in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, U.K.
