Finland-based international rental company Ramirent has acquired three Scandinavian equipment rental companies this month. First Ramirent bought the scaffolding division of Ajos A/S, a subsidiary of Danish construction company MT Højgaard A/S. In the same transaction Ramirent Denmark sold its hoist and working platforms to Ajos.

Ramirent says the acquisition strengthens its position in the Copenhagen area.

“Ajos is a leading scaffolding rental supplier in Greater Copenhagen and the acquired scaffolding solutions will complement Ramirent’s offering in particular in renovation and weather cover projects where we wish to strengthen our position,” said Erik Høi, senior vice president of Ramirent Denmark. “Ajos’ scaffolding customers will hereby also benefit from Ramirent’s entire range of dynamic rental solutions.”

Ramirent already has annual revenue of €36 million (about U.S. $47 million) in 2010 in Denmark, with a network of 21 locations. The acquisition makes Ramirent one of the top scaffolding rental suppliers in Denmark.

Ramirent also acquired two companies in Sweden. Tannefors Lift-och Maskinuthyrning, based in the Östergötland region, with annual net sales of about €8.8 mililion with three branches. TLM specializes in lifts, scaffolding, modules and light equipment as well as the sale of construction supplies.

Ramirent has also signed an agreement to acquire Consensus Entreprenad AB, which specializes in the rental of compromised modules. The company operates one branch in Karlskoga and serves industrial customers in other parts of Sweden as well.

Based in Helsinki, Finland, Ramirent has facilities in 13 European countries.
