Kobelco Cranes has begun commercial production at its new plant in Andhra Pradesh, India, according to India’s Business Standard. The plant is the company’s first production facility outside of Japan, and is the first foreign company to own a facility in India to manufacture crawler cranes, the company said.
The plant, in Sri City, a 7,000-acre private industrial park in Chitloor will produce 90 crawler cranes in the 100-tonne, 150-tonne and 250-tonne classes this year.
Kobelco Cranes hope to acquire a market share of 20 percent by 2015, the company said.
