JLG Opens New Sales and Service Facility in Singapore to Support Asia

JLG Industries Inc., an Oshkosh Corp. company, last week held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new sales and service facility in Jurong, Singapore. The facility is to become the JLG headquarters for retail sales, warranty, parts distribution, service and other ground support activities in the Asian market.

This announcement is part of an ongoing initiative to meet the growing demands for access equipment in Asia. In late 2008, JLG broke ground on a manufacturing facility in Tianjin, China, dedicated to producing machines specifically for the Asian market.

“The Asian market has growth potential and JLG continues to concentrate efforts in those areas,” said Craig Paylor, Oshkosh Corp. executive vice president and president of JLG Industries. “With the opening of the new Singapore facility, JLG is better positioned to provide Ground Support, JLG’s industry-leading aftermarket sales and service support to the Asian market.

“This facility demonstrates JLG’s continued commitment to growing our business with customers in Asia and will provide a significant competitive advantage as we prepare for long-term growth in aerial work platform sales throughout the region.”

Although JLG has been selling equipment into the Asian market for many years, aerial work platforms are now becoming more popular as productivity- and safety-enhancing tools for use in construction, manufacturing, industrial maintenance, aviation and shipbuilding environments.

“We are happy that JLG and Oshkosh have chosen Singapore to be home to its Centre of Excellence in Asia,” said Kelvin Wong, director of logistics for the Singapore Economic Development Board. “This is a strong testimony to Singapore's attractiveness as both a strategic business gateway and regional distribution hub for businesses to serve the growing needs of customers throughout Asia. In addition, this center also enhances the transport engineering landscape.”

JLG Industries is headquartered in McConnellsburg, Pa.
