Worldwide industrial services company Harsco Corp. said last week that its Access Services Business Group was awarded a $4 million order by the United Kingdom arm of global industrial giant Jacobs Engineering to provide and install rental scaffolding during construction of a new distillate hydrotreater at the U.K.’s third-largest refinery.
The order is the first for Harsco’s U.K. access service operations from the $8 million Jacobs Engineering Group, one of the world’s largest providers of support services to process plant operators. “This is a huge win for our UK Project Services team and one that greatly enhances our position for further growth in the industrial sector,” said Harsco president and Access Services group CEO Geoffrey Butler.
The facility is being built at the Lindsey Oil Refinery in North Lincolnshire, and will boost the production of sulfur-free diesel fuel and provide greater flexibility in the type of crude oils that can be processed, Harsco officials said. “The Lindsey refinery has a processing capacity of more than 10 million tons of crude oil per year, more than 200,000 barrels per day.
Harsco’s scaffolding will support construction through the middle of 2009.
Harsco is based in Harrisburg, Pa. Its Patent Construction Systems unit, based in Paramus, N.J., is No. 18 on the RER 100, concentrating on projects in North America.
