Atlas Copco Receives Order for Russian Pipeline Industry

ZAO Atlas Copco, Russia, has received an order to supply 90 units for the construction of the Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas transmission system. The order value is approximately €20 million (about U.S. $27.9 million).

The equipment — portable compressors, dryers, boosters, lighting towers and a generator — will be used during the construction of a 1,600-kilometer-long gas pipeline system from north of Sakhalin island to Vladivostok. The packages will deliver a total capacity of up to 1,230 square meters per minute of compressed air. The order was booked in the third quarter 2010 and delivery will start in October.

“This order shows that Atlas Copco is a first choice supplier to the Russian oil and gas industry,” said Stephan Kuhn, business area president compressor technique. “The project requires equipment for pressures of up to 150 bar and that work in temperatures of minus 40 degrees Celsius.”

Atlas Copco received the order from ARGUS Pipeline Service, a well-known provider of complete solutions to the Russian pipeline industry and an Atlas Copco customer for several years. ARGUS supplies technologies, equipment and materials for pipeline construction, testing, operation and repair.

Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Atlas Copco is an industrial group that produces compressors, construction and mining equipment, power tools and assembly systems. Atlas Copco’s Compressor Technique business area develops, manufactures, markets, and services oil-free and oil-injected stationary air compressors, portable air compressors, gas and process compressors, turbo expanders, electric power generators, air treatment equipment and air management systems.
