Aggreko, the world’s leading player in rental power solutions and temperature control services has opened its first depot in India, CW India reports. Located in Pune, the branch represents part of Aggreko’s initial investment of INR 300 million (about U.S. $6.3 million) in the country and will cater to India’s growing demand for temporary power solutions.

Aggreko entered the Indian market earlier this year after acquiring Cummins India Ltd’s power rental business.

The branch will provide temporary power for industries such as manufacturing, oil and gas, shipping, process industries, mining and construction, as well as major sporting events. Aggreko can also provide multi-megawatt power projects to support India’s rapid growth and assist in overcoming capacity constraints.

In the past two years, Aggreko has delivered more than 160 MVA of temporary power to the Beijing Olympics, powered the European Football Championships, the U.S. presidential inauguration and will supply power for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Based in Scotland, with U.S. headquarters in Houston, Aggreko is No. 10 on the RER 100.
