Aggreko Opens Durban, South Africa, Branch
Worldwide temporary power provider Aggreko this week opened its second facility in South Africa. Located in Durban, the new branch will provide rental power and temperature control in the KwaZulu-Natal area.
Aggreko opened its first South Africa facility in Midrand in 2009. The company has invested about R87 million (almost U.S. $13 million) in the past 18 months.
Aggreko officials said the company plans to open two more facilities in South Africa in the next 18 months, one in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, and in Cape Town, in the Western Cape region. The company hopes to employ more than 60 local staff by 2015.
The Durban branch will primarily serve the shipping and manufacturing sectors, but will also service the oil and gas, mining, construction and special events segments.
Aggreko established its presence in South Africa when it partnered with Shanduka Energy to provide power for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Based in Scotland, with U.S. headquarters in Houston, Aggreko is No. 9 on the RER 100.
