SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — Volvo Rents, which has acquired nearly 50 companies in the past year, has also opened 10 greenfield startups in the first half of this year, the company said this week. Volvo Rents has opened branches in Mobile and Foley, Ala.; Texarkana, Ark.; Sacramento, Calif.; Sulphur, La.; Curtis Bay, Md.; Zanesville, Ohio; Alcoa, Tenn.; Cheyenne, Wyo.; and Toronto.
“Acquisitions have been a great way for us to expand our North American footprint, but it’s not the only way,” said Mike Crouch, vice president of business development for Volvo Rents. “We have taken decisive steps to help our business grow and succeed through multiple strategies.”
Crouch added that Volvo Rents’ expansion comes at a perfect time, as economic difficulties make contractors less willing to commit capital to equipment purchases.
“Currently, the U.S. is undergoing an unprecedented shift from buying to renting,” he noted, pointing out that construction equipment rental revenue grows an average of 7 percent annually. “This puts us in a very favorable position as we continue to grow in various markets across the country.”
Based in Shippensburg, Pa., Volvo Rents is No. 21 on the RER 100.
