For the month ending June 30, the Rouse Value Index of Orderly Liquidation Values for used equipment across 14 major rental equipment categories decreased 0.2 percent compared to May. However, for the six months ending June 30, average index values increased 4.9 percent. Meanwhile, June auction sales of rental and construction equipment averaged 0.4 percent less than Rouse May values.
Average rental rates increased 1.2 percent on average for the rental companies participating in the Rouse Analytics Rental Metrics Benchmark Service.
For the month of June, light compaction led the way in terms of orderly liquidation values with a 1.6-percent increase, while notable drops included rolling compaction equipment declining by 3.2 percent, and scissorlifts by 2.4 percent. For the first six months of 2012, articulating boomlifts led the way with an 11.3-percent OLV increase, followed by excavators at 9.4 percent; air compressors at 8.1 percent; industrial forklifts at 7.9 percent; generators at 6.9 percent, and loader backhoes at 6.6 percent.
