Used Equipment Prices Rising, Rouse Asset Services Reports
For the month ending Sept. 30, the Rouse Value Index of Orderly Liquidation Values for used equipment across the 14 major rental equipment categories increased 1.4 percent compared with the previous month. For the six months ended Sept. 30, average index values increased 6.7 percent. Third-quarter sales of aerial work platforms comprised more than 27 percent of all recovery money generated from used rental fleet sales activity by the major North American rental equipment companies.
Eleven of the 14 category indices recorded one-month value increases ranging from 0.3 percent for dozers to 4.7 percent for scissorlifts. Values for light compaction dropped 0.5 percent, as did skid-steer loaders, 0.4 percent, and wheel loaders 0.7 percent.
For the six-month period, index values for all 14 categories increased, ranging from 1.7 percent for generators to 14.3 percent for scissorlifts. Also recording major increases for the six-month period were wheel loaders (12.1 percent); telescopic boomlifts (8.8 percent); and articulating boomlifts (8 percent).
Other strong increases for September were industrial forklifts (4.1 percent) and compaction rolling equipment at 3.1 percent.
