Terramite Sells Assets to Coneqtec
Cross Lanes, W.Va.-based Terramite Corp. recently sold its assets and the rights to distribute its product lines to Wichita, Kan.-based Coneqtec. The new company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Coneqtec, is a Kansas corporation and will operate under the name Terraquip Construction Products.
Terramite, which manufactures compact backhoes, street sweepers and paving screeds, will continue to supply its products to the rental channel under the new Terraquip name.
Terramite closed its West Virginia plant on Dec. 19, and laid off all of its employees. Coneqtec interviewed those workers and rehired most of them to return to work at the plant the following Monday.
Wichita-based Coneqtec is a privately held manufacturer of hydraulic attachments and kits for construction equipment. It operates a manufacturing plant in Carbon, Ind. Terraquip’s manufacturing will continue from the former Terramite plant in West Virginia.
Founded in 1990, Coneqtec owns Universal Construction Products, Universal Bingham and the majority interest in Burlington Installation.
