Spider Offers Code-Compliant Welding Protection

Spider, which pioneered welding protection for drum-hoist and traction-hoist-powered swing stages before it was the law, now offers complete solutions that comply with OSHA Standard 29 CFR & 1926.451 (f) (17), the code covering welding from suspended platforms.

Spider lays out the relevant OSHA code, along with diagrams, photos and equipment solutions in three flyers that can be downloaded from Spider’s website:

• General Welding Protection:

• Welding Protection for Drum Hoists: http://www.spiderstaging.com/literature_pdfs/Drum%20Hoist%20Welding%20Protection%20-%20Nov%202009.pdf

• Welding Protection for Traction Hoists: http://www.spiderstaging.com/literature_pdfs/Traction%20Hoist%20Welding%20Protection%20-%20Nov%202009.pdf

Hard copies are available by contacting Spider at 877-774-3370.

“Contractors welding from swing stages have a trusted information resource in Spider and the complete product and training solutions needed to work safely and according to industry requirements,” said John Sotiroff, vice president, sales and distribution. “Over 60 years of powered access experience combined with our pioneering expertise in welding protection keeps us the go-to experts for performing work at height productively and safely.”

Founded in 1946, Seattle-based Spider, a division of SafeWorks LLC, is No. 70 on the RER 100.
