Solutions by Computer Acquired by Constellation Software; Shea to Remain

Solutions by Computer announced Friday that Constellation Software has completed the purchase of certain assets of the company through Trapeze Software, its wholly owned subsidiary.

Development, sales and service operations will continue under the Solutions by Computer brand under existing management. President and founder Jack Shea, widely viewed as one of the founding fathers of equipment and tool rental software, will remain as president.

Solutions flagship rental applications software, Windows-based Enfinity and UNIX-based CounterPro, will continue to be the focus of ongoing development, while system users will benefit from an enhanced customer service infrastructure.

Established in 1982, Solutions by Computer has long been a leading provider of mission-critical business-management software to the rental industry, and currently serves the largest rental customer base in North America with more than 2,200 installed locations and 9,000 licensed users, as well as installations in Latin America, Europe and the United Kingdom.

“We are extremely pleased to join Constellation and to have their support in furthering our product development and customer service,” said Shea. “Constellation shares our commitment to market leadership and longevity within the rental software arena to the benefit of our customers.”

Mark Miller, chief operating officer of Toronto-based Constellation, said: “Solutions is a proven leader in providing mission-critical business management software to the rental industry throughout North America. We are excited about entering a new vertical market and having the Solutions employees, customers and products join Constellation.”

RER will have more information about the acquisition in the next edition of RER Reports.
