SmartEquip Network Processes 2 Millionth Parts Order
Product support platform SmartEquip last week reached the milestone of 2 million part orders transacted by customers through its network. SmartEquip estimates that operational and transactional savings generated by the SmartEquip Network for manufacturers and equipment fleet owners is more than $50 per order for each party. Manufacturers and fleet owners realize these significant savings as a result of the speed, efficiency and accuracy made possible by SmartEquip’s technology. Network volume for parts transactions is rapidly approaching the $100 million mark.
“We have seen a steep increase in the use of our network over the past several quarters,” said Alex Schuessler, SmartEquip’s chairman and CEO. Approximately 1,300 rental industry branch and store locations have licensed SmartEquip technology to order parts and receive after-market service support via the network. This is over and above the tens of thousands of users accessing the SmartEquip network directly via a rapidly growing number of OEM-sponsored sites on the Internet.
“Many more manufacturers are joining the network to benefit from cost savings and improve service to their clients, especially during a severe downward cycle in the economy,” said Schuessler. “We are continuing to increase staff to accommodate this increased demand and extend the network, and to increase support for both existing and new members of our network.”
SmartEquip provides a platform that enables construction equipment suppliers, distributors and owners to dramatically increase asset productivity and reduce expenses. The SmartEquip technology platform supports key strategic procurement activities — from equipment and parts, to supplies and services — while bridging the technical exchange between the equipment suppliers and their customers. Manufacturers participating in the SmartEquip Network include Deutz, Doosan Infracore Portable Power, Gradall, Genie, JLG, John Deere, LeeBoy, Lull, Magnum Products, Manitou, Mi-T-M, Multiquip, Power Solutions, SkyTrak, Sakai, Sullair, Sullivan, Takeuchi, Volvo Construction Equipment and Wacker Neuson. Fleet owner participants include rental companies such as Acme Lift, the Cat Rental Stores, Sunbelt Rentals, United Rentals, Volvo Rents, and many others.
