SEC Seeks United Rentals Settlement
United Rentals said in a regulatory filing last week that the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission will pursue settlement discussions with United Rentals over an ongoing accounting inquiry.
United Rentals disclosed earlier that the SEC was investigating certain sale-leaseback transactions between December 2000 and March 2002. United said it expects to pursue settlement talks once the staff receives approval from the commission.
In its SEC filing, United said it believes “the letter represents a step towards the ultimate resolution of the matter.”
