RSC Equipment Rental last week completed its purchase of the operations and certain operating assets of American Equipment Rentals, Providence, R.I., a three-location aerial work platform rental company.

“The American business is a growth platform for us and its addition is consistent with our strategic initiative to grow,” said Ned Graham, RSC’s senior vice president, operations. “American’s long-standing customer relationships, tenured sales force and experienced leadership will combine with our own best-in-class customer service capabilities to deliver outstanding value to customers in New England.”

American, with branches in Woburn, Mass., and New Britain, Conn., is one of the largest independent aerial rental companies in New England. The company, No. 83 on the RER 100, had rental revenues of $18.2 million in 2007, and total revenue of more than $19 million.

Based in Scottsdale, Ariz., RSC Equipment Rental is No. 2 on the RER 100.
