RSC Equipment Rental Releases Corporate Social Responsibility Report

RSC Equipment Rental has released its 2011 Corporate Social Responsibility report entitled The Right Way, Every Day, which outlines the evolution and maturation of RSC’s sustainability management strategy and the competitive advantage the company has gained through specific environmental, social and governance initiatives. The report, available at www.RSCrental.com/csr, also highlights the close alignment between RSC’s financial goals and its core values of safety, integrity, passion for people, continuous improvement and customer focus.

“These guiding principles have served us well in delivering tangible results – in safety, ethics, environmental performance, customer service, and employee engagement – and in creating significant value for our company and its stakeholders,” said Erik Olsson, president and CEO of RSC Equipment Rental.

The 2011 CSR report details RSC’s progress on a number of long-term sustainability priorities and highlights performance achievements in 2011:

  • RSC’s efforts to embed a culture of safety throughout the organization resulted in a 38-percent drop in safety incidents in 2011, and yielded the lowest TRIR (total recordable incidence rate) – 1.14 – ever recorded at the company;
  • In 2011, RSC saved more than $26 million through environmental and continuous-improvement initiatives such as its equipment refurbishment program, fleet management and routing technologies, and Rapid Improvement Process events;
  • 80 percent of RSC’s top 20 customers now use the E2T equipment emissions tracking tool on a monthly basis to measure and manage the CO2 impacts of their projects;
  • RSC’s Net Promoter Score is 67 percent, based on more than 23,000 customer survey responses received in 2011.

Based in Scottsdale, Ariz., RSC Equipment Rental is No. 2 on the RER 100.
