Mel Adams, owner of Agoura Equipment Rentals & Supplies in Agoura, Calif., died last week at the age of 88. Adams operated the business since 1966 and was still active in it until his death.

Agoura operated seven days a week and family members told local media that Adams wouldn’t close the business for weddings, school functions or other family events, which all had to be scheduled for later than 5 p.m. Although dedicated to his business, Adams was known for generosity and philanthropy.

Adams is survived by children Mel Jr., Larry Adams, Nancy Adams and Marianne Christensen, eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren.
