Komatsu posted a 33.1-percent revenue increase for the six-month period ended Sept. 30, with 859.7 billion Japanese yen (about U.S. $10.3 billion), compared with JPY 646 billion for the same period a year ago.
Komatsu continued to expand production capacity and strengthen sales and product support capabilities during the six-month period. Demand remained at a high level in China, Asia and Latin America, and more moderate recovery in Japan, North America and Europe.
In North America, demand remained sluggish in the housing sector, but improved from the previous year. The rental industry normalized its level of machine assets. In Latin America, demand in the mining industry accelerated in Chile, and remained strong in Brazil. There was a moderate recovery in demand in Europe.
Komatsu expects moderate improvement in most markets for the next six months.
