JLG Names Mellott VP of Ground Support

JLG Industries last week named Christopher Mellott vice president – ground support. Mellott will have global responsibility for JLG’s service centers and aftermarket parts business, including ground support strategies, initiatives and business development. Mellott will be responsible for the implementation of strategies and tactics to enhance aftermarket support for JLG customers including reconditioning, repair and maintenance services, mobile service, aftermarket parts and used equipment sales.

“This new position reflects the emphasis that JLG places on expanding and strengthening Ground Support products and services throughout the lifecycle of our equipment,” said JLG president Craig Paylor. “[Mellott] has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities, astute analytical ability and an extraordinarily progressive perspective on enhancing customer service. He has almost 15 years of experience in working closely with JLG customers, identifying their needs and ensuring that we satisfy those needs.”

Mellott began his JLG career in 1995 and has held increasingly responsible management positions in sales, service, customer support and product management, most recently as vice president, customer assurance.

In other JLG personnel news, the company transitioned operational responsibility for its service centers and global parts distribution operations to Peter Bonafede, senior vice president – operations.

“Peter is a long-time JLG executive, who has developed world-class manufacturing operations and teams,” said Paylor. “His expertise and leadership in these areas will help bring industry-leading practices to our aftermarket support operations including parts distribution and machine refurbishment. In addition, he will actively support JLG’s initiatives to expand these operations globally.”
