Construction Spending Drops in February, But Nonres Gains 

Construction spending slipped 0.3 percent in February to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.12 billion, the Census Bureau reported last week. The drop was the fifth straight monthly decline. Year-to-date spending in the first two months of 2008 was 2.6-percent lower than in January-February 2007. Residential construction sagged 0.9 percent for the month and 20 percent YTD....

Ahern Rentals Jumps 24% in Rental Volume, 29% in Total Revenue 

Ahern Rentals posted a 23.8-percent rental volume increase in 2007, with $293.4 million in rental revenue, compared with $236.9 million in 2006. Total revenue jumped even more dramatically, from $266.1 million in 2006 to $342.6 million in 2007, a 28.7-percent total volume leap. Volvo Construction Equipment last week announced the sale of Brampton, Ontario-based Champion Road Machinery Sales to Strongco Limited Partnership, Mississauga, Ontario. Champion was a division of Volvo Group Canada, and a company-owned member of the Volvo CE North America dealer network. Neff Rental Revenue Drops 3.3 Percent in ’07 

Miami-based Neff Rentals dropped 3.3 percent in rental revenue in 2007, posting $266.4, compared with $275.4 in 2006. Total revenue declined 0.1 percent, from $330.2 million in 2006 to $329.9 million in 2007. With a 15.3-percent increase in total cost of revenues, gross profit for the year decreased $25.8 million, or 15.8 percent, to $137.9 million in 2007, compared with $263.7 million in 2006....
