Volvo Rents is launching an iPhone app providing customers with information about rental equipment such as equipment make, model number and equipment specification information hard-coded within the application. Customers can access detailed rental product information on more than 100 aerial work platforms and reach forklift items....

H&E Equipment Services Announces Second-Quarter Earnings Call 

H&E Equipment Services (Nasdaq: HEES) last week announced that it will release its 2010 second-quarter financial results before the market on Thursday, Aug. 5. The company will also hold a conference call to discuss second-quarter results that day at 10 a.m. Eastern Time. To listen to the call, participants should dial (913) 981-5539 approximately 10 minutes prior to the start of the call. AED Headquarters in Temporary State of Emergency 

Recovering from the second devastating flood to permeate its offices in two years, Associated Equipment Distributors' North American headquarters temporarily lost power and network connectivity following a deluge of rain July 23. AED staff worked through the weekend to salvage data and assets, and the association's website and e-mail service have been restored to nearly 100 percent....

Hertz Equipment and Car Rental Divisions Collaborate on Gulf Coast Services

United Rentals Raising CapEx Spend, CFO Plummer Asserts 

United Rentals announced last week that it has raised its planned net rental capex to $160 million to $180 million, a 60-percent increase from its previously projected range....

Volvo Group Net Sales Grow 27 Percent in Second Quarter 

Volvo Group last week reported that sales in the second quarter ended June 30, continued to increase on a gradual recovery in demand in most of its markets. Net sales in the quarter increased 27 percent to SEK 68.8 billion (about U.S. 9.41 billion) from SEK 54.0 billion (U.S. $7.39 billion) in the year-ago period....

Wacker Neuson’s Order Backlog Jumps 350 Percent at End of Q2 

The Wacker Neuson Group increased second-quarter revenue relative to both the first quarter of its current fiscal year as well as the same quarter in 2009, according to provisional figures the company released this week. Wacker Neuson also posted positive earnings and a strong revival of order intake, with order backlog for compact equipment at the end of June 2010 350-percent higher than for the same period last year....

Caterpillar Profit Soars 91 Percent in Second Quarter 

Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) last week reported a second-quarter profit of $1.09 per share, an increase of $0.49 per share from a profit of $0.60 per share in the second quarter of 2009. Profit of $707 million was 91-percent higher than second-quarter 2009 profit of $371 million. Sales and revenues of $10.41 billion were up 31 percent from $7.98 billion in the second quarter of 2009....

RSC Equipment Rental Posts Slight Q2 Declines 

RSC Equipment Rental (RRR) posted a 7.8-percent total revenue decline in the second quarter of 2010, with $301 million in total revenue compared with $326.6 million for the same period in 2009. Rental revenues dropped 4 percent from $270.5 million in Q209 to $259.7 million for the recently completed quarter ended June 30....

Terex 2Q Sales Jump, DeFeo Calls Prospects ‘Cautious, but Positive’ 

Terex Corp. (NYSE: TEX) last week announced a net loss from continuing operations for the second quarter of 2010 of $13.1 million, or $0.12 per share, compared to a net loss from continuing operations of $99.6 million, or $1.00 per share, for the second quarter of 2009. Contributing to the 2Q10 net loss were pre-tax charges of approximately $11 million associated with restructuring programs and manufacturing realignment in certain businesses and a pre-tax provision of approximately $7 million for expected historical foreign duty and related obligations for certain products....

Bigge Adds Three Southern U.S. Crane Rental Locations 

Bigge Crane and Rigging recently opened a new location in Aiken, S.C., which offers bare crane rental in South Carolina and the entire Gulf Coast region including Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Bigge rents rough terrain, all terrain, and crawler cranes, as well as carry decks and boom trucks from its South Carolina location. Along with sister locations in Houston and Richmond, Va., Bigge now has the largest rough terrain crane fleet in the Southeastern U.S., according to the company....
