Skyjack Strength Holds Up Linamar’s Profits 

Linamar Corp., Guelph, Ontario-based manufacturer of precision metallic components, modules and systems for global vehicle markets as well as Skyjack aerial work platforms, reported a small decline in second-quarter profit last week, even though revenues increased. The company earned CD $31.3 million (U.S. $29.1 million) in the quarter, or 45 Canadian cents per share, for the three months ended June 30, compared with a profit of CD $32.3 million (U.S. $30.4 million) for last year’s Q2. ...

Wacker’s Sales, Profits Increase 

Wacker Construction Equipment AG last week reported that results for the first half of fiscal 2007 align with budgetary targets, with group sales up 8.1 percent compared with the previous year. The company is expecting further sales and profit growth over the current fiscal year after the merger with Neuson Kramer Baumaschinen AG, based in Linz, Austria, goes ahead this summer....

Red Mountain Machinery Plans Relocation to Riverside County 

Heavy equipment rental specialist Red Mountain Machinery last week announced plans to close the Escondido, Calif., facility that has been its headquarters since 1996 and open a new facility in Riverside County. Moving to the Riverside area will allow Red Mountain to extend its service area into the Inland Empire, the high desert area, Palm Springs and Los Angeles, while still allowing it the ability to service its San Diego-area customers....

United Rentals Second Quarter Income Jumps 14 Percent 

United Rentals last week announced second quarter 2007 continuing operations diluted earnings per share of $.60, an increase of 11 percent compared with $0.54 for the second quarter 2006. Income from continuing operations increased 14 percent year over year to $67 million, up from $59 million in Q206. Total revenues of $966 million for the quarter jumped 5 percent from $919 million last year, while rental revenue increased 4.8 percent from $630 million in the second quarter of last year to $660 million in the same period this year....

Hertz Q2 Profit Rises 

Hertz Global Holdings last week said its second-quarter profit rose because of a vacation-policy adjustment. Net income jumped to $83.7 million, 26 cents per share, compared to $17.8 million or 8 cents per share for the same period last year....

Aim High Buys Property 

Aim High Equipment Rental, a rental company in Henderson, Colo., with a branch in Brighton, Colo., purchased a 14,000-square-foot property in Henderson, for $1.6 million, or about $114 per square foot, according to Internet reports. ...
