Worldwide industrial services company Harsco Corp. last week said that its North America-based Patent Construction Systems division recently received a major order expected to be worth $3.5 million over the next 10 to 12 months to provide shoring equipment and related engineering and installation services on two reservoirs that are being covered over as part of Seattle’s long-range underground reservoir plans. The award is one of Patent’s largest single shoring-related orders within the past several years.
To comply with water-quality regulations and to enhance its water system security, Seattle plans to cover all of its drinking water reservoirs over the next several years. Two additional reservoirs are being converted to underground storage and Patent’s contract calls for extensive amounts of shoring to support the construction of their permanent concrete enclosures.
The Patent division is part of Harsco’s $1.1 billion global Access Services business group, based in Harrisburg, Pa. Patent is No. 18 on the new RER 100.
