Finning Names New CFO

Finning International last week named David Smith executive vice president and chief financial officer effective Feb. 2.

Smith has been CFO of Ballard Power Systems since December 2002 with responsibility for external financial reporting, taxation, treasury, strategic planning, risk management, public and investor relations and information technology. He previously served as Ballard’s controller, and has worked in management positions with Placer Dome Inc., and Price Waterhouse.

“David’s background is an excellent fit with Finning’s business,” said Finning CEO Mike Waites. “He is currently a CFO with a broad range of responsibilities and considerable experience in the capital markets.”
