Scottsdale, Ariz. and Pittsburgh — RSC Equipment Rentals' recent acquisition of American Equipment Rentals and Platinum Equity Capital Partners' acquisition of Maxim Crane were finalized recently.

RSC completed its purchase of the operations and certain operating assets of Providence, R.I.-based American Equipment Rentals, a three-location aerial work platform rental company with branches in Woburn, Mass., and New Britain, Conn.

No. 83 on the RER 100, American is one of the largest independent aerial rental companies in New England with rental revenues of $18.2 million in 2007, and total revenue of more than $19 million.

Platinum Equity Capital Partners also completed the acquisition of all the outstanding shares of Maxim Crane Works for $42.50 per share.

Pittsburgh-based Maxim Crane has 35 branches and is No. 7 on the RER 100.
