Atlas Copco Acquires American Air Products USA

Atlas Copco Compressors LLC this week purchased certain assets of American Air Products USA. The acquired business has been a long-serving Atlas Copco compressor distributor in the states of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and areas of Wisconsin.

“Feet on the street and maintaining the closest relationship with the customer continues to be a high priority for us,” said Stephan Kuhn, business area president, Atlas Copco Compressor Technique. “This acquisition gives us the opportunity to bring some experienced sales and aftermarket people into Atlas Copco, and will allow for an even greater customer focus.”

The acquired business, operating on the market under the name Clayhill, has a well developed customer base and market presence within the region. Sales mainly consist of Atlas Copco-branded compressor equipment and parts. The economic activity in this region is varied and competitive and offers a good opportunity for Atlas Copco to grow customer relationships going forward, the company said.

As a result of the acquisition, about 18 employees will join Atlas Copco from American Air Products. The American Air Products business will be incorporated into the central region of Atlas Copco Compressors in the U.S. The Clayhill name will be used for an interim period.

Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Atlas Copco is an industrial group with global positions in compressors, construction and mining equipment, power tools and assembly systems.

Atlas Copco’s Compressor Technique business area develops, manufactures, markets, and services oil-free and oil-injected stationary air compressors, portable air compressors, gas and process compressors, turbo expanders, electric power generators, air treatment equipment and air management systems. It also offers specialty rental services.
