Aggreko Powers Vancouver Opening Ceremony

Aggreko, global leader in temporary power and temperature control, was responsible for the main supply of power for the Opening Ceremony at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, B.C., last week. Aggreko also provided stand-by power to the International Broadcast Center, responsible for transmitting the ceremony to an estimated 3 billion viewers worldwide.

Aggreko will continue to provide temporary power, heating and cooling equipment at all of the Vancouver and Whistler venues throughout the games. Aggreko will distribute power generated from renewable sources around 30 Olympic venues using 500 miles of cable and more than 1,800 electrical distribution panels. Aggreko has installed more than 90 MW of primary and standby generators at venues, and has more than 100 people working in Vancouver and Whistler supporting the games.

Based in Scotland with U.S. headquarters in Houston, Aggreko is No. 10 on the RER 100.
