Acme Lift Co., believed to be North America’s largest aerial re-rental specialist and largest strictly wholesale rental company, has upgraded its fleet of big aerial work platforms and telehandlers with state-of-the-art telematics from Topcon Positioning Systems. Acme Lift’s machines are now outfitted with compact second-generation Topcon Tierra devices, which gather machine locations, operating hours and engine information, sift raw machine data and provide immediate alerts and reports.
“Acme Lift pioneered the use of telematics, rolling out the first GPS-based tracking system in 2003,” said Woody Weld, Acme Lift’s chairman and CEO. “We are thrilled to move to the latest generation of telematics, allowing us to further enhance our commitment to the best customer service.”
“With 100 percent of our fleet tracked by Topcon Tierra, we have real-time visibility to not only pinpoint the location, but the ability to manage our maintenance intervals and automate the scheduling of our maintenance, annual inspections and transportation activities, which equates to a better overall experience for our customers,” said Steve Nadelman, Acme Lift president and chief operating officer.
Acme said Topcon Tierra’s security features and report-generation capabilities will enhance its delivery times. Topcon Tierra’s hardware capabilities are upgraded via cell phone worldwide.
Acme Lift, based in Mesa, Ariz., has a large selection of 60-, 80-, 120-, 135-, and 150-foot boomlifts, and 8,000- to 20,000-pound telehanders as well as truck-mounted cranes for re-rent. Acme is No. 46 on the RER 100.
