Contractor Breaks Ground on Alaska’s Goose Creek Corrections Center
Anchorage, Alaska-based general contractor Neeser Construction recently broke ground on Alaska’s Goose Creek Corrections Center. The $240 million project, located near Point MacKenzie, Alaska, is the largest building construction project for the state in recent history. The 435,000-square-foot medium-security facility will house more than 1,500 inmates and is scheduled to be completed in late 2011. The project is expected to create about 700 construction jobs and approximately 400 full-time jobs once construction is complete....

Identity Thieves Target Louisville Rental Companies
General contractor Lichtefeld Inc. has been victimized by identity theft, the company reported to the Better Business Bureau of Louisville. According to online reports, the company said thieves have impersonated company employees, put the Lichtefeld name on the side of construction trucks and stolen more than $50,000 worth of items from rental centers, hardware stores and equipment dealerships by opening accounts in the company name....
Wisconsin Contractor Develops Crane Rental Division
RJS Construction Group, a general contractor based in Superior, Wis., recently established a crane rental affiliate RJS Industrial Services Group, according to businessnorth.com, an online news service covering northern Minnesota and Wisconsin. Finding reduced demand for its fleet of rock-crushing equipment, RJS sold those assets and upgraded its fleet of cranes, which it has since rented for bridge repair, pipeline and wind farm construction....
