IronPlanet Announces New Sales Service for John Deere Dealers

IronPlanet, a leading online auction company for used construction and agricultural equipment, last week announced a new service to assist John Deere dealers in remarketing and selling used equipment inventory. The agreement provides John Deere dealers the capability to sell inventory from their private dealer-to-dealer website (UsedExpress.com), and their public used equipment website (machinefinder.com) through IronPlanet’s online marketplace.

“IronPlanet has consistently demonstrated their ability to achieve market-leading price performance in the used equipment marketplace, and we’re pleased with the convenience and cost efficiencies this partnership offers our dealers,” said Michael Gause, division manager, remarketing operations for John Deere. “Their online auctions will generate the best value for John Deere inventory by providing our dealers with a much broader audience for remarketing their equipment.”

IronPlanet averaged 14,000 visitors per auction in the second quarter of 2008, providing its customers with the demand needed to generate the best possible price performance for equipment being remarketed and sold. In addition, dealers can dispose of equipment at least every two weeks through IronPlanet’s featured auctions, creating a faster time to market for used inventory.

John Deere dealers will have their equipment inspected at their location by a trained equipment inspector, and take advantage of the IronClad Assurance — IronPlanet’s guarantee that its inspection reports are true representations of equipment condition. Dealer equipment will be auctioned direct from its location anywhere in the U.S., avoiding the costly transportation and make-ready expenses associated with selling equipment through traditional auctions.

“We’re extremely excited to provide this new service for John Deere dealers and look forward to providing the most profitable sales channel for their used equipment,” said Paul Blalock, vice president of agricultural sales for IronPlanet.

Headquartered in Pleasanton, Calif., IronPlanet is a global online auction company for used construction and agricultural equipment. IronPlanet is backed by Accel Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, Caterpillar, Komatsu and Volvo. For more information, visit www.ironplanet.com.
