Ace Rents, Lancaster, Pa., is preparing to exit the construction equipment rental business to focus entirely on party rental, the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal reported. Ace decided to shut down its equipment rental business after Strober Organization, which sells building supplies, agreed to lease more than 60,000 square feet of Ace’s 83,000-square-foot facility.

Ace sold its former building nearly two years ago and acquired the current facility with the expectation of leasing a large portion. But after going nearly two years without a tenant, Ace had the opportunity to lease the large portion to Strober, leaving it with insufficient space to run both the party and equipment rental divisions.

Ace Rents was founded in 1960 as Rent-O-Matic, and shortly thereafter changed its name to Ace Rents. Allen Morehead acquired the business in 1982.

The company is holding an equipment auction April 7 and 8. Interested parties can contact Dave Morehead at 717-393-1701.
