Compact Breakers Hit Hard

Atlas Copco Construction Tools introduces its new generation of SB hydraulic breaker attachments, designed to hit harder and faster while improving reliability and ease of installation. The new breaker line includes the 183-pound SB 100 (pictured) and the 275-pound SB 150. For use on carriers in the 2,000- to 9,900-pound weight class, each SB breaker is designed with a compact, slim-line shape to enhance operator visibility and allow easier working in confined spaces such as inside buildings or in narrow trenches.

With maximum impact rates of up to 2,280 blows per minute, the new SB breakers hit up to 50 percent faster than their predecessors. Both breakers operate at a pressure range of 1,450 to 2,175 psi, with the SB 100 requiring oil flow of 4.2 to 9.2 gpm and the SB 150 requiring 6.6 to 11.9 gpm.

Peter Bigwood, president of Atlas Copco Construction Tools says that the units are quieter, more powerful and generate less vibration back to the carrier, while affording the operator greater visibility. “There are no side plates and no through bolts to hold things together, and far fewer parts overall,” he says. “That means there is less to go wrong, and more uptime for the rental company and its customers.”
