The ZX180LC-5 Hitachi excavator is designed to appeal to small local contractors, and water and sewer contractors. Its boom/arm configuration is designed for greater lift capacity and a wider undercarriage for more stability. It features a 121-hp Isuzu diesel engine and employs a cooled exhaust gas-recirculation platform paired with a diesel particulate filter to meet EPA interim Tier 4 emissions regulations.

General Pipe Cleaner's ClogChopper multi-function cutting tools feature six self-sharpening blades that dig into encrusted debris and root masses, grinding up stoppages, scale and crystallized urine without risking pipe damage. Bomag introduces two new models of milling machines, the BM500/15 (pictured) and the BM600/15, both featuring rotor geometry to reduce vibration, increase service life and simplify drum replacement. The edge cutter is also designed to produce a smooth edge with minimum damage, which helps reduce extra costs and ancillary work for the contractor. Both models are powered by efficient, 125-hp Deutz liquid-cooled diesel engines.

MSA Safety offers the EVOTECH full-body construction harness, which incorporates an integral belt pad with removable tool belt for added convenience. A sub-pelvic strap with patented variable-width webbing provides 50-percent more surface area for improved weight distribution and a patent-pending leg strap design keeps leg straps in place, resulting in increased mobility and comfort.

Designed to work on jobsites ranging from sand and gravel quarries to coal mines and road construction projects, the new Terex TA400 Generation 9 articulated truck is designed to keep productivity high, fuel consumption low and cycle times short. Equipped with a 444-hp Tier 4 interim compliant Scania DC13 engine, the TA400 has a maximum payload of 41.9 tons and a heaped capacity of 30.3 cubic yards.

Sokkia announces a new reflectorless total station — the FX — that includes on-board MAGNET field application software, the telematics-based communications module TSshield, and a long-range wireless communications system utilizing Bluetooth Class 1 technology. Using RED-Tech EDM technology, the FX provides a tight beam signal and strong returns from the most difficult surfaces, including dark and wet, the maker says. The Bluetooth communications module, when connected with an external data collector, records data for codes and remote rod position.
