Two Thompson Pump Employees Celebrate 25 Years of Service

Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co. last week announced two 25-year employee anniversaries. Johnny Britt, Gulf Coast region manager, and Barry Nelder, sales representative, Goldsboro, N.C., have both served Thompson Pump in key positions over the years.

In 1981, Nelder joined Thompson Pump as a salesperson. He served as a sales representative in West Palm Beach, Fla., and the tri-state area of Delmarva for four years, before moving to North Carolina in 1985. Nelder received three salesman-of-the-year honors in 1990, 1995 and 1998 during his 21 years in this location and currently serves more than 100 customers in his Southeastern North Carolina territory.

Britt began his career with Thompson Pump working in the yard in Florence, Miss., and was quickly promoted to parts clerk, then service mechanic, head mechanic, service manager, operations manager, and then general manager. As general manager, he earned branch-manager-of-the-year honors in 1997. In 2002, he was promoted again to Gulf Coast region manager. He currently oversees four branch locations in Pensacola, Fla., Panama City, Fla., Baton Rouge, La., and Florence, Miss.
