The members of the executive board and supervisory board of Wacker Construction Equipment AG last week approved the construction of a new manufacturing facility for Ground Heaters Inc., which the company acquired in 2006. The new manufacturing facility will be built in Norton Shores, Mich., and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2008.

The capital cost of the facility is about $10 million, and there will be space for future facility expansion. The new facility, not far from Ground Heaters’ Spring Lake, Mich., headquarters, will allow for increased production capacity for mobile hydronic heating equipment. Wacker plans to manufacture mobile light towers at the new location as well.

Wacker is currently constructing manufacturing facilities in Korbach, Germany, and Manila, Philippines.

Wacker is based in Munich, Germany, with U.S. headquarters in Menomonee Falls, Wis.
