Frost & Sullivan selected Cummins Power Generation as the recipient of the 2006 North American Diesel Engine Technology Leadership of the Year Award in recognition of its advancements and market leadership in emissions technology and its presence as a major environmentally minded market participant. Cummins Power Generation, a subsidiary of Cummins Inc., is a global provider of reliable and environmentally responsible electric power.

"Cummins Power Generation is eager to demonstrate its preparedness for the 2007 EPA emissions standards," said Devin Castleton, Frost & Sullivan energy analyst. "The company boasts an approach to engine emissions reduction based not only on best-in-class technology and design, but also one that provides a product and cost to align with customer requirements whether the customer needs a first-fit, integrated design or needs to retrofit current equipment."

Cummins Power Generations emissions technology strategy is tightly integrated with its parent company, Cummins Inc, which was the first engine manufacturer to certify engines compliant to the October 2002 emissions standards, the company says. In addition, all of its 2007 engines will be fully compliant with the new standards, running on the new ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel.

Cummins Inc. spends more than half of its multi-billion dollar research and development budget on emissions-related research, both on-highway and off-highway, and has technology development plans in place to meet emissions regulations throughout 2015.

According to Frost & Sullivan, Cummins’ collaborative approach to leverage its parents’ investment to develop market-specific emissions technology and its leadership in educating its customers make Cummins Power Generation the deserving recipient of the 2006 Frost & Sullivan North America Diesel Engine Technology of the Year award.

Each year Frost & Sullivan presents this award to a company that has demonstrated excellence in technology leadership within their industry. The recipient company has demonstrated technology leadership by excelling in all stages of the technology life cycle — incubation, adaptation, take-up and maturity — to ensure a continuous flow of improvements, the analyst said. By innovating leading-edge concepts the company has pioneered client applications.
