Subaru introduced its new ER12 rammer engine as well as its new line of SGX Generators last week at World of Concrete in Las Vegas.

The ER12 engine is exclusively intended for the demanding application of rammers. With specially designed components and overhead cam technology, this 3-hp, 4-stroke engine is engineered to be lightweight, yet rugged and powerful. The ER12 is designed to offer more power and up to 24-percent more output than similar competitive engines, all while being lighter weight and designed for optimized balance and performance.

Unlike existing competitive rammer engines that have been modified from general-purpose engines, Subaru’s ER12 rammer engine is specifically designed for this piece of equipment and its demands. The vertical cylinder design is slim and compact, and maintains its center of gravity to effectively transmit power to the ground, resulting in improved performance. The recoil has been integrated into the flywheel and blower housing, further enhancing balance and overall engine performance.

The 120cc-displacement ER12 engine offers an output of 2.6 kW (3,600 rpm) and is suitable for 60 to 80 kilogram class rammers. It meets EPA Phase 3 emissions standards and is backed by Subaru’s three-year limited warranty.

Subaru also introduced its new line of SGX generators, which offer high-quality features, durable construction and technologically advanced Subaru EX overhead cam engines. The SGX commercial generators are available in three models to meet the needs of numerous users, from homeowners to professional contractors.

Delivering a maximum output of 3,500 watts, the SGX3500 utilizes Subaru’s EX21 7-hp engine. The unit offers a fuel tank capacity of 4 gallons and provides a continuous run time of 8 hours at the rated load.

The SGX5000 utilizes the 9.5-hp EX30 engine and offers a maximum output of 4,900 watts. Fuel tank capacity is 7 gallons and the unit’s continuous run time is 9.4 hours at the rated load.

Featuring a 14-hp EX40 engine, the SGX7500E provides a maximum output of 7,300 watts. It offers a continuous run time of 7 hours at the rated load and a fuel tank capacity of 8 gallons. Additionally, the SGX7500E includes an electric starting system with recoil backup.

Constructed of heavy-duty steel and equipped with steel fuel tanks, the SGX units are designed for longevity and durability. Furthermore, the generators include high-performance copper windings with maximum surge capacity. The SGX line offers OSHA-compliant ground fault circuit interrupter receptacles, and twist lock receptacles are also included for enhanced safety.

In addition, the SGX generators are Canadian Standards Association-certified to meet electrical safety standards.
