Husqvarna signed an agreement to acquire the assets of Meco, Masterpiece Engineering Co., based in Prescott, Ariz., the company announced at World of Concrete in Las Vegas. The deal closed at the end of April 2008.

Meco produces floor saws for cutting concrete and asphalt, primarily for highway construction and repair. It has annual sales of about U.S. $9 million with the majority of sales in the United States.

The acquisition complements Husqvarna’s product range for the construction industry and reinforces the group’s position in the floor saws market, the company said.

Meco has a strong market position in the U.S. and Australia. Synergies will be achieved with existing operations in terms of production and distribution. In addition, Husqvarna manufactures diamond blades that are consumed by these floor saws, which will contribute to higher sales in this product area.
