Paint Chips

The National Equipment Register and Identification Technologies combined DataDotDNA marking technology and NER's database services to create an identification and registration system that will deter equipment theft and aid in its recovery if stolen. The Heavy Equipment Loss Prevention Technology DNA (HELPtechDNA) system uses thousands of microscopic identification chips that are painted or sprayed onto each machine. The chips (pictured with a pencil for scale) contain a number registered to the NER database that is used by police agencies to identify the equipment owners. The microchips are premixed in a durable adhesive that contains a UV trace. Under a blacklight, HELPtechDNA will fluoresce, and once located, the number can be read with a x30-powered magnifier. The kits contain warning labels and signs for the machines and the premises to send a message to potential thieves that the machine is identifiable and traceable. The CAT's Meow

With headquarters in Columbia, S.C., the CAT Rental Store Blanchard offers a full range of Caterpillar and other brand-name equipment large and small, from excavators to air compressors. The website says, “Yes, we rent more than CAT machines,” and the company came up with a clever way on the website to show it. Visit www.blanchardmachinery.com/rental/rentalequip.html and hover the mouse over the links next to the different product types. A yellow and black box pops up that lists the types of equipment and products in that category that the rental center offers. The innovative pop-up box saves the site visitor from having to click back and forth between web pages, while at the same time offering key information about the rental product line that is available.
