AmQuip Acquires Shaughnessy Crane Services From NES Rentals  

AmQuip Corp. last week announced that it acquired Shaughnessy Crane Services, a leading crane rental provider in New England, from NES Rentals Holdings. Shaughnessy/AmQuip will offer the most complete line of crane types in the New England region, including rough-terrain, all-terrain, crawler and tower cranes, ranging from 6- to 600-ton capacity. The Shaughnessy/AmQuip division will remain headquartered in its current Boston location....

Hertz Posts Strong 4th Quarter and Full-Year Profits  

Hertz Global last week posted a strong quarterly profit, aided by recent cost-saving cuts as well as strong performances in the company’s car rental and equipment rental units. Net income for the fourth quarter was $39.8 million, 14 cents per share, compared with a $27.6 million, 12 cents per share loss in the same period last year....

Wacker’s Christifulli, Rick to Retire; Successors in Place 

Dave Christifulli, Wacker Corp.’s vice president of sales and product support, has announced his retirement effective Dec. 31. Christifulli, who has worked with Wacker for 32 years and has led the sales organization as vice president since 1986, has been one of the key architects of the company’s dramatic international growth....

H&E’s Q4 and Full Year Hikes Top Expectations 

H&E Equipment Services last week announced fourth quarter revenues of $215.5 million, up 16.2 percent from the fourth quarter of 2005 when it posted $185.5 million. EBITDA for the quarter was $58.7 million, a 37.5-percent increase compared to $42.7 million in Q405....

Aggreko Boosts 2006 Profits 47 Percent 

Aggreko last week reported 2006 pre-tax profit of 83.1 million pounds (about U.S. $161.5 million), a 47.5-percent increase over the previous year. Worldwide revenues grew 29.5 percent to 540.7 million pounds (about U.S. $1.05 billion). ...

Wagner Equipment Opens Las Cruces Rental Center 

Denver-based Wagner Equipment, the Caterpillar dealer for Colorado, New Mexico and west Texas, is opening a new Cat Rental Store facility in Las Cruces, N.M., this month, Brad Cofield, director of rental division for Wagner, told RER Reports. Cofield said the southern New Mexico branch is in a former Rust Rents facility that had belonged to former New Mexico Caterpillar dealer Rust Equipment. ...

Sunbelt Holds Kennewick Grand Opening 

Sunbelt Rentals will hold a grand opening at its new Kennewick, Wash., branch Friday March 23, and Saturday March 24. Friday will be “Contractor Appreciation Day,” including a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the mayor and Chamber of Commerce members. Attendees will have the opportunity to demo and be trained on a variety of machines....

HERC Opens Renovated Facility in Charleston, S.C. 

Hertz Equipment Rental Corp. announced it will celebrate the grand re-opening of its Charleston, S.C. facility on Friday, March 23. The event will take place at the store between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and will showcase the new 3,000-square-foot facility, which sits on a 2.5-acre lot, and houses six heavy equipment bays....

Champion Road Machinery Names New President 

Champion Road Machinery Sales Co., a Volvo Construction Equipment dealer of motor grader and compact equipment lines in Ontario, Canada, last week announced that Serkes Ibrahim has been named president of the company effective March 12. Ibrahim was appointed to the position currently held by Wayne Mason, who announced his retirement from Champion Road Machinery Sales as of March 31. ...

JLG Names New Telehandler Dealers 

McConnellsburg, Pa.-based JLG Industries last week announced that it has appointed two new dealers for its telehandler line. Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental, Milwaukee, will provide sales and service coverage throughout Wisconsin except for counties near the Twin Cities. C. L. Boyd Co., Oklahoma City, will provide sales and service coverage throughout Oklahoma and North Central Texas....

Progressive and LoJack Partner to Combat Commercial Vehicle Theft 

To help its customers combat commercial vehicle theft, Progressive, which sells commercial auto insurance to small businesses through independent insurance agents and brokers and also directly over the phone, entered into an agreement with LoJack Corp. to offer the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System to owners of commercial vehicles and construction equipment at a substantial savings. ...

France’s Loxam Acquires Major Competitor Laho 

France’s largest equipment rental company Loxam earlier this month acquired France’s third-largest rental company Laho Equipment from Barclays Private Equity. Laho has 119 branches and annual rental volume of EUR 124 million (about U.S. $165 million). ...

Cramo Buys Northern Sweden Rental Company 

Cramo Sverige, the Swedish wholly owned subsidiary of Cramo plc last week acquired the entire share capital of Goby AB, a rental services company based in Sundsvall, in northern Sweden....

Australian Aerial Company Makes Acquisition 

Force Corp., Australia’s largest privately owned access rental company, recently paid AU $10 million (about U.S. $8 million) to acquire the business assets of All Star Access. The purchase is the Brisbane-based Force Corp.’s fourth acquisition in the past 12 months....

Volvo to Invest $160 Million in Component Division in Eskilstuna, Sweden 

Over the next three years, Volvo Construction Equipment last week said it will invest nearly SEK 1.1 billion (about U.S. $160 million) in its Component Division in Eskilstuna, Sweden. Work will begin in the spring. The money will be spent in extending the factory, new machine equipment, a production and assembly concept and cross-functional working methods....

Sunbelt Posts Strong Third Quarter Numbers 

Sunbelt Rentals reported strong third-quarter results for the three-month period ended Jan. 31, with revenues increasing 73 percent year over year to $361.5 million, the company’s U.K.-based parent company Ashtead plc announced last week. Sunbelt’s operating profit increased 39 percent for the quarter to $58.1 million, up from $41.8 million in the fiscal third quarter last year...

United Rentals Names Kneeland Executive VP and COO 

United Rentals last week named Michael Kneeland executive vice president and chief operating officer. Kneeland has served as executive vice president-operations since 2003. Coble Trench Safety Expands to D.C. Area

Wajax Posts Record Revenue and Earnings in 2006 

Toronto-based Wajax Income Fund last week posted improved results for the fourth quarter of 2006 with $294.5 million in total revenue for the quarter, compared to $276.8 for the same period last year, a 6.4-percent increase. Total 2006 revenue was $1.21 billion, up from $1.05 billion for 2005, a 15 percent jump. ...

CRA Tops 150 Exhibitors for Rental Rally  

The California Rental Association has topped 150 exhibitors for its upcoming Bakersfield Rental Rally. The trade show, to be held at the Kern County Fairgrounds March 20-22, also offers a large demo area. Executive director Dale Blackwell said the Bakersfield location was chosen in response to member requests that the show be held in an area they can drive to. “Bakersfield’s central location is convenient to many rental businesses,” Blackwell said....

Volvo Dealers Form Joint Venture to Acquire Dealer Spreitzer 

Volvo Construction Equipment North America dealers Scott Construction Equipment Co. llc, and G. W. Van Keppel Co. have formed a joint venture company, Scott Van Keppel llc, to acquire Volvo CE dealer Spreitzer Inc. The new company will operate as a separate entity from the principal companies and as an authorized Volvo CE dealer in Iowa and Nebraska from present sales and services branches operated by Spreitzer. The appointment of the new dealership is effective immediately....
