President and CEO Leaving Toromont

The board of directors of Toronto-based Toromont Industries last week announced that Hugo Sorensen is leaving the company to pursue other business opportunities. He is resigning as a director and as president and CEO. Sorensen will remain available to the company until Sept. 15 to effect an orderly transition of his duties.

Sorensen joined Toromont as president in March 1997 and was president and chief operating officer from 1998 until 2002, when he was appointed president and CEO.
Robert Ogilvie, chairman of the board of directors of Toromont, has been appointed CEO. Ogilvie was CEO from 1987 until 2002.

Wayne Hill was appointed executive vice president. Hill is a director of Toromont and was a senior executive of the company from 1985 until mid-2006, when he retired as executive vice president.

Ogilvie and Hill are assuming their roles effective immediately.

Toromont’s Equipment Group includes Battlefield Equipment Rentals, which operates Cat Rental Stores in Ontario, Manitoba and Newfoundland. Based in Stoney Creek, Ontario, Battlefield is No. 23 on the RER 100.
