Vancouver, British Columbia-based Finning International last week announced that its Chilean operation has secured the sale of 28 pieces of Caterpillar and Ingersoll-Rand equipment and a maintenance and repair contract for five years, extendible to 10 years, for Compania Minera Maricunga, part of the Kinross Gold Corporation and Bema Gold Corporation joint venture.

The equipment will be delivered between June 2004 and November 2004. The Compania Minera Maricunga mine will operate with 100 percent Caterpillar and Ingersoll-Rand machines.

Doug Whitehead, president and CEO of Finning said, “This sale is an indication of the continued growth in the mining sector in the southern cone of South America, and the leading role Finning plays in providing equipment and services to one of the most important mining regions in the world.” Finning is No. 17 on the RER 100.
