Essex Crane Rental Corp. recently relocated its California service center to a larger, more modern facility in Fontana, Calif., two miles south of its old location. Jim Crawford, branch manager, said the move will enable the company to “further improve our operations in the areas of customer service, technical support, and shipping logistics.” Essex is the world’s largest provider of Manitowoc lattice-boom crawler cranes and attachments, company officials said. With more than 480 cranes and attachments in its fleet, Essex supplies cranes for construction projects related to power generation, petro-chemical, refineries, water treatment and purification, bridges, highways, hospitals, shipbuilding and commercial construction. Based in Buffalo Grove, Ill., Essex also has branches in Alabaster, a suburb of Birmingham, Ala.; Arcola, a suburb of Houston; Longmont, Colo., near Denver; and Tampa, Fla.
