The California Rental Association last week announced plans to hold a "Rental Rally" in San Diego in October.

After the American Rental Association cancelled the associations' joint convention, slated for October in Las Vegas, CRA officials consulted with their membership and with manufacturers, many of which still wanted to participate in a small fall show. CRA cancelled the show it had planned for last fall in Reno, Nev., because its new agreement with ARA called for a joint ARA/CRA show to be held this fall in Las Vegas.

CRA officials decided to hold a more low-key event, an October rally and product showcase at the Town and Country Resort in San Diego October 15-17. The rally will include two days of exhibits, an outdoor demo area and outdoor exhibit space, mini-seminars and round-table discussions, and a classic car rally.

"We don't want to mislead people, this is not a full-court-press convention," CRA executive director Chuck Maltese told RER. "It's on a smaller scale with smaller equipment and tools. There will be an outdoor demo area on site and room for larger displays outside if larger manufacturers want to bring bigger equipment."
